This is my grandpa's 2006 Corvette. He has the six speed with paddle shifters (For my grandma who will probably never drive it anyway.) I know what you're thinking the classic old man driving a Corvette stereotype. I really don't mind it though. He has let me drive it a few times and this thing loves to get up and go! Just thought I would share it with you guys. One of my favorite cars and thanks to my grandpa I will have to buy one of my own. Hopefully after college in a couple years.

Well shit, its common knowledge that corvettes induce the feels. It's always love at first drive despite its interior shortcomings

I went to autocross in a 2009 Corvette with a girl from school a couple of years ago. It was the most capable car there. I really don't understand the hate Corvettes get; they are a lot better than the majority of things on the road. Even the terrible gas-crisis era cars feel a damn sight better than anything else from that era.

The Corvette is one of the few sports cars a person could use every day.

The nice thing is the interior has reached a point where it's perfectly fine for the cost of the cars on the used market.

Paying $50k new? What a terrible interior. Paying $15k used? Good enough!

They're in a category of being so good everyone has to find some fault with them. For the Corvette it's always been the interior, and for whatever reason no one says anything but 'dat interior, tho'

The GTR is similar in a sense, people might praise the performance but more often than not you hear about how bland it is, how disconnected the driver is, etc.

I know right, for the amount you spend on used C5 and C6 corvettes, you can't even complain about the interiors anymore. Back when they were new, fully optioned out, you were spending $75k to $85k, non ZR1; but now you can get those cars from high twenties to mid thirties. There's nothing to complain about anymore

Maybe it is just me but I like the interior of the C6 Corvette. Sure it's not a Audi but the little buttons on the door handles and heads up display is just cool.

Not surprised you do! Is there a reason your Corvette has blue headlamps in your profile?

I've put 38,000 miles on one in the last 26ish months. Yep.

Painter's tape. That picture was taken during a track day at Putnam Park outside Indy. I'm not quite as gung-ho as some of the guys that tape EVERYTHING.

I always thought the gripe about the interior was dumb. It's a sports car; you should care about how it drives and performs not whether the dashboard is leather wrapped.

Truthfully, all mass produced cars' interiors are made in near identical processes, so It really bothers me when someone uses the interior to bash the car. For example, stitching on door panels is purely decorative, they are just a piece of felt board or plastic held in place on the door with little tabs and spray adhesive. They can leave the plastic panel exposed or they can cover it up with leather or vinyl, but it is still just a plastic panel underneath.

I can understand if someone complains about a poor mechanical or electrical design decision. But do interiors really matter beyond the seats, the wheel/pedals, and gauges?

Like I said, it's people finding something to complain about.

To be fair though, the Corvette's interior used to be pretty poor for the money which hurt the whole package. If you were just spending $50k for a performance toy, who cares, but when it is supposed to be your daily driving car the interior becomes pretty important

I suppose it is important, but I DD stuff with no interior amenities. I still consider power windows and air conditioning to be luxury items.

As long as the seats are decently comfortable and the wheel feels good, then the interior is good enough. The simpler the interior is, the more I like it—less shit to break in the future. It's always little plastic/electronic bits and trim from the interior that jacks up the price/difficulty of a restoration. I can't imagine restoring something with satnav and airbags especially when AC ducts and dash lights are a pita.
